We routinely screen for signs of mouth cancer as part of our regular examinations. Mouth cancer can occur in any part of the mouth including the tongue, lips and throat. Smoking, alcohol and unhealthy diets have all been linked to an increased risk of mouth cancer.
Mouth cancers have a higher proportion of deaths per number of cases than breast cancer, cervical cancer and skin melanoma. The mortality rate is around 50% but as with all cancer early detection is vital to improve the prognosis. Visit your dentist immediately if you are aware of any abnormal problems or if you are not sure.
Our membership plan encourages regular attendance and is an easy option for routine preventative care.
The Mouth Cancer Foundation web site has free information on mouth cancers, patient experiences as well as an online support group.
